Christmas Indulgence and Homoeopathy

Christmas time: love it or loathe it, we could all do with a little help at Christmas. It could be for many reasons:
  • Eating too much!
  • Drinking too much!
  • Stressed with having to entertain and cook
  • Loneliness and depression
  • Shopping for food and presents
Whatever the reason, why don’t you try some homoeopathic remedies to help get you through the season? It is safe, non-toxic and easy to use at home.

Overindulgence Overindulgence

So, you’ve eaten way too many mince pies, or that Christmas pudding is sitting like a brick in your stomach after a big Christmas dinner. Perhaps, there have been too many glasses of Baileys, snowballs, port, beer, wine, whatever your tipple. Did you mix your drinks are feeling queasy now?

Why not create your own little homoeopathic kit:

Nux vomica 30C: the number one remedy for hangovers and too much alcohol. Nausea a couple hours after eating with heartburn, headache or bitter/sour belching. Stomach may be bloated and food lies heavily in stomach.

Carbo veg 30C: bloating, stomach rumbling, exhaustion, feeling faint, cold sweats, going pale and weak. Will want to be fanned.

Pulsatilla 30C: indigestion and upset after eating fatty foods. Will want fresh air or a window open. Pains and sensations may be changeable and erratic. Will want comfort and maybe weepy.

Stress! Stress!

Have to do all the shopping for presents, wrap them, then shop for groceries, cook the dinner, clean the house, etc? Are you beginning to wonder how you got yourself in this mess?

Arnica 6C: for aches and pains after lugging around shopping bags all days or preparing the house and meal for entertaining. Your feet and back ache.

Bach Rescue Remedy: to help de-stress in all situations

Kali Phos tissue salts: to help nourish and support the nervous system during stress

Vitamin B complex: for nourishing the nervous system.

Nux vomica 1M: feeling overworked and pressured, losing sleep and living on coffee.

Argentum nitricum 1M: feeling fearful and anxiety about entertaining. Worried that something will go wrong and craving sweets and feeling digestive upsets.

Loneliness and depression Loneliness and depression

Is Christmas time the worst time of year for you? Sad memories, feelings of isolation and being forgotten, loneliness and the need for human contact can be overwhelming if you are on your own at Christmas and wish you had a family or close friends to share the season with.

Pulsatilla 1M: emotional and weepy, feels abandoned. Can be jealous of the relationships of her/his acquaintances and friends. Will desire company. Full of self-pity.

Aurum 1M: sense of failure, low self-esteem, as if life has no value. Suicidal despair. Classical music soothes. Feels abandoned and alone. Full of sadness.

Phosphorus 1M: sensitive, anxiety about health, needs to be liked and popular. Needs company as fearful of being alone. Will wonder how someone as popular as them could end up alone on Christmas.

Take your mind of your own problems and volunteer your time to charity, especially those focused on the aged as they are frequently the loneliest of people during holidays. Prepare yourself for time to spend on your own by renting your favourite DVDs, or getting a TV series on DVD that you missed. Obtain the books you wish to read. Get some nice food in the house and treat yourself. Go on a tour and play tourist in your own city, a great way to meet people.
